Priorities: where do your's lie?

Life is filled with activities, tasks, and people looking for our time and participation. One of the hardest things for me in life has been to decide what i would and would not allow to take my time. Sometimes we have to choose between what is good and bad. Often times, however, life is faced with making a decision between the good, better, and best choices in life.

We should recognize the reality that just because something is good is not a sufficient reason for doing it. The number of good things we can do far exceeds the time available to accomplish them. Some things are better than good, and these are the things that should command priority attention in our lives. 1

So what are some simple and logical things that we can do to help us to use our time wisely? One of the best ways is to set goals. Often times however we find our selves "wishing," "waiting," or "hoping" for something good to occur in our lives.

When we sit down and make goals we are prioritizing what is important enough to occupy what little time we have on this earth, in order to make something happen. You will find that most if not all people of success in life are people who have set a determination to find, reach, do, or become something. That process in itself is a goal and the steps along the way, which make it happen are goals.

Our relationship with God and our understanding of his Gospel works the same way. We must make it a priority to read the scriptures daily, to pray for insight, etc. However, when we involve God in any of our goals in life, he can help us obtain them. More importantly, is to find out what God would have you do and become. What his hopes and desires for you to become are. As we allow God to be an influence in our lives we will become more than we ever could on our own.
